General Campsite & Pitch Information
Our Campsite is open from the middle of March to the end of October.
Being a touring Campsite only, we only provide pitches and not equipment/caravans etc. Situated within a forest where the pitches are formed around the natural lay of the woodlands, the ground which you will pitch up on is that of a typical forest floor. This means that your pitch could be slightly gravelly; be a silted surface; have tree roots or pinecones scattered around; or be slightly uneven. Bar some ‘Tent Only’ pitches, most pitches do not have grassy surfaces.
Please see our Campsite Map, which identifies the type of pitches available, and their corresponding use i.e. tents only,
For all pitches, we only allow a maximum of 8 people per pitch in total (that includes any infant/child). We do not allow groups of adults only. Please note, tent pitches are only suitable for up to an 8-berth tent.
Premium Pitches
These are electric pitches which provide you with slightly more privacy than standard electric pitches. There are a variety of pitches available which, subject to availability, are suitable for all different forms of camping.
Electric Pitches
These are standard electric pitches which again offer a variety of pitches available which, subject to availability, are suitable for all different forms of camping.
Non-Electric Pitches
These pitches are for tents only. Winnebago’s, Campervans, motorhomes etc are NOT permitted on these pitches.
Access to the Park
As the Campsite is within the Park grounds, you have direct access to the Park (through pitches 24/25) throughout the duration of your stay. This includes after the Park has closed (4.30pm/5.30pm), though key areas such as the animal farm, train, pillow, splash pad etc will not be available. All general play areas however are accessible.
Please note, if entering the Park after it has closed, children should always be supervised by an adult; the main lake is not fenced; when it goes dark, it does so very quickly, and the Park is not lit.
Booking Camping
Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance of your stay, via our website and cannot be made over the telephone. Please note, there is a £2 Booking Fee for each pitch booked. We do not take bookings on the day either online or on the door.
A minimum of 2 nights stay is required on weekends and during Hampshire school holiday dates. A minimum of 3 nights is required on Bank Holiday weekends.
A maximum of 7 nights stay is permitted on our site. If you wish to stay longer than this (up to a maximum of 14 nights), you must first email Wellington Country Park with the dates of your required stay and the purpose of your visit. Wellington Country Park reserves the right to refuse any such request. If you have booked for longer than 7 days, and it has not been authorised, your booking will be cancelled and refunded as per the Cancellation Policy.
For full terms and conditions of booking, including our cancellation policy, please see our full terms and conditions.
Campsite Facilities
The washing facilities are found in the middle of the Campsite and comprise of toilets, showers, hot and cold washing facilities, electric shaving points and hair driers.
There is a launderette situated next to these facilities, with a washing machine, tumble drier, and an iron. Washer and Drier tokens can be purchased from either the Campsite Warden (correct change only) or Reception, and the iron is free of charge.
Within the launderette, there is also a freezer for campers’ use. If you intend to make use of the freezer, please ensure you date and label any item left. Please note, all items left are left at your own risk. WCP cannot be held liable for any item that goes missing.
A public telephone, and 13amp plug sockets to charge electronic devices or to use hair straighteners are also available within this area.
Electric
To make use of the electricity supply on electric pitches, you will need to bring with you an electric hook up cable (available at all good ‘outdoor camping supplier.’ We do not supply them. Cables should be a standard 16amp outdoor cable at one end with a 13-amp socket at the other, and with a minimum of 15m to ensure you can reach the hook up point.
Each hook up point is clearly numbered on each pitch and delivers a maximum of 1.5KW (6 amps) per pitch. Please ensure that you do not exceed this wattage, as it may cause the circuit to trip. Generators are not permitted. As supply is limited, campers should only use travelling kettles, irons etc. Normal utilities may trip the supply.
Tents
For anyone booking any tent pitch, we strongly recommend that you bring toughened metal tent pegs and an extra ground sheet for added protection and comfort. Though we allow pup tents, they can only be used for storage and not for sleeping.
Awnings and Gazebos
Both awnings and gazebos are allowed. There are no additional charges for awnings. There are also no additional charges for a gazebo. However, if you intend to use a gazebo, this must not encroach on to your neighbour’s pitch.
Washing Up Area
This area is situated behind the launderette, with a hot and cold water supply for washing of dishes, utensils etc.
Grey Water Waste Point
A drive-over facility for Motorhomes’ grey water waste only. For other campers, a grey water waste point is also available outside the launderette.
Wi-Fi & TV Signal
Due to the location of our Campsite, within a woodland, there is no Wi-Fi signal, and the TV signal is also very poor. Wi-Fi is available in certain areas of the Park, during normal operating hours. Please ask at Reception for full details.
Insects & Weather
Please be aware that you are camping within a woodland setting and so you may come across bees, wasps, and ticks etc. Please wear the correct footwear and bring suitable equipment and clothing for all weather types. We would also recommend somewhere to store wet clothing, if necessary. The Park and Campsite are almost fully outdoors with very little cover for adverse conditions.
Refuse
Refuse & Recycling Points are found between pitches 25 & 26 as well as opposite the Campsite Warden’s lodge, at the entrance to the campsite. Please remember to recycle where possible. There are separate bins available for general rubbish, mixed recycling, and glass. There are also areas for disposing of used barbeque coals at both points.
Elsan Points
These are situated near the refuse points. Please ensure you ONLY put toilet waste down them as nappies, wipes and sanitary towels will block this facility. For these items, please use the sanitary and nappy bins provided in the main toilet block.
Disabled Facilities / Accessibility
All paths within the campsite are either typical forest floor or stone/shingle. Therefore, they are not easily accessible for wheelchairs. Please be aware that currently, we do not have any have any disabled toilet facilities on the campsite.

Please note, dogs must not be left unattended at any time within the Campsite or any area of the Country Park grounds. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the children’s play areas, or the Animal Farm and we ask that you bring doggy bags with you to clear up after them.
BBQs/Campfires?
Ground fires and Braziers are prohibited. Enclosed Fire Pits, Chimeneas and BBQs are allowed though due to weather conditions this may be prohibited at the Campsite Warden’s discretion. You are welcome to bring your own BBQ’s though any BBQ must be a minimum of one building brick height off the ground. They must not be placed directly on the ground. Bricks are available opposite the Campsite Warden’s lodge. If BBQs etc. are used, they must be supervised at all times and please have firefighting materials i.e., water, sand etc available for any emergency.
