FAQs
FAQS
- What age is the Park suitable for?
Wellington Country Park is aimed at families with children up to the age of 8 years old. Older children are very welcome, but our attractions are aimed at children of that age range, and some have even further restrictions. Unless you are meeting other family/friends, older children may not enjoy the facilities as much as younger ones.
- What time does the Park open/close?
Entrance times to the Park itself vary according to the time of year. Entry and closing times for the Main Reception Building are:
Low season: 9:30am – 4:30pm ; High season: 9:30am- 5:30pm.
PLEASE NOTE – The main ENTRANCE GATES to the Park itself, will be locked 30 minutes after the Main Reception Building closes. Visitors must have vacated the Main Car Park and left the Park by that time, or the main gate may be locked and as a result, you may not be able to exit the Park.
Please be aware, different attractions close at different times. Please check timings of operation on our website or arrival to the Park.
- What are you Entry Prices?
Entry prices vary according to the time of year/season. We request all visitors to book online. Wellington Country Park is now totally cashless.
- Why can I only book tickets online?
We request visitors who wish to visit during our peak morning period from 9.30am to 12.30pm to book online, to be certain of entry. At Peak times, entry may be refused if numbers off guests are too high. However, we do allow visitors to arrive and pay on-the-door but please note, Wellington Country Park is cashless.
By requesting visitors to book online for our peak morning period, we can reasonably control the number of visitors coming and going onsite. By doing so, we have found that not only did this reduce the possibility of overcrowding and queuing on entrance, but it has also improved in the enhancement of your overall experience and enjoyment of your visit in both accessibility to play equipment as well as the standard of service we can offer.
- Is there a maximum number of tickets available per day?
Yes, we have limited the number of tickets available per day, so we can control the numbers on site.
- My child has not yet turned 2, do they need a ticket?
Children who have not turned 2 years of age are not charged entry. Whilst they have free entry, they do require an infant ticket of their own. Please note this is not applicable to Annual Pass holders.
- I am eligible for a disabled ticket and carer, what proof do you require?
When you book a disabled ticket, we are delighted to offer you a free carer to accompany you, whilst you visit and enter the Park. To treat everyone the same, we do ask for proof of all disabilities, regardless of if they would be considered visible or not. The proof that we accept is as follows:
- A Blue Badge with a valid expiry date, this can include a photocopy or digital photo of both sides of the badge
- PIP Letter (Personal Independence Payment) dated within the last 24 months, this can include a photocopy or digital photo with both the name and date clearly visible
- DLA Letter (Disability Living Allowance) dated within the last 24 months, this can include a photocopy or digital copy with both the name and date clearly visible
- An Access or Enhanced Card with a valid expiry date
- A Wokingham Borough Council issued CAN card with a valid expiry date
If you are concerned about your documentation or accessibility needs, we ask you to get in touch with our team prior to your visit. Please note that to qualify as a carer, the individual must be aged 18 years or above.

- Do we have to pay for the car park?
No, it is free to park your car here at the Park.
- Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes, we are. Access to all buildings, café’s, soft play, Adventure Room and Reception, is either flat or via a slight ramp with a minimum access of 900mm. Flooring is either of a vinyl or tiled surface.
Once in the building and into the Park, the majority of the Park now has tarmac paths. This allows for wheelchair access to all areas of the Park including access to, in and around the Animal Farm, the Dinosaur Trail and around the back of the small lake. Access to the back of the large lake is only partly accessible for wheelchair users, as the path becomes very narrow and is of a natural rough forest floor.
Whilst there are level tarmac paths to all entrances to play areas and the areas are all visible from these points, all play areas are barked for safety reasons which unfortunately makes access for wheelchairs very difficult. All paths are approximately 2m wide with grass areas either side, which may be uneven underfoot. There are plenty of benches located throughout the Park to allow for rest.
Please note that the Train has a wheelchair carriage available to all passengers who may need to use it. Please see our website for further information on our accessibility page.

Please note a refundable £50.00 deposit is required. In case of late arrival, the wheelchair will remain reserved for 30 mins after the booked time. However, after that period of time, it will be available to other visitors if required. If not pre-booked, use of the wheelchair is done on a first come first served basis.

- Are there any covered areas available for us to have lunch?
If the weather is nice enough, you are more than welcome to have lunch anywhere in the Park. Your lunches are stored in portable containers, so once collected you can wheel them to any location.
If there is any adverse weather, there is a marquee with picnic tables available on the main green for lunch. On arrival, please discuss lunch arrangements with the Education Team Member who meets you. Other areas may be available if required.
- Where are the nearest toilets and hand washing?
There are 4 main areas in the Park where you have access to toilets and handwashing stations. These are in the Main Reception building, Middle Block by the Adventure Room, at the Animal Farm and at the Splash Zone. The Main Reception and Middle Block have a unisex disabled toilet.
- What happens if I require First Aid?
There will be an assigned first aider on the day of your visit. Staff will only carry out basic first aid under the direction and authority of an accompanied school staff member.
- Can we have a copy of your risk assessments?
Risk assessments for the Park and the workshops can be found on our website under the school section.
- Are we able to take part in a pre-visit?
Yes of course. We allow 2 teachers to explore the Park before your school trip. Visits must be booked in advance so please contact us on 01189 326444 to book your pre-visit. Please ensure both teachers have their ID on them.
